- The mill itself has ceased to stop working in the past ten or fifteen years. The old miller is still alive and keeps the dam in order, like he has done the past fifty years. I actually saw the old miller, checking the dam. He reminded me of an old soldier, guarding the bridge and dam, even though there is no need to do that anymore. He made his round to the bridge, exactly at the same time, in every hour. Like an old guard, forgotten to guard the bridge, that has no value or meaning anymore. - He was very suspicious about me, probably due to the fact, that he fought heavily with the city officials and with the National Board of waters, who wanted to tear down the old mill and the dam. At that time, there were lot of reporters and camera men taking pictures of the mill and the miller. Me walking there with a camera, probably reminded him about these scavengers. - He won the battle with the officials, but after few weeks from taking these pictures, I saw an article in the newspapers, that the officials are again interested about this mill. They want to destroy the old dam and bridge and to build a new bridge across the river. Also they would like to renovate the area, to be a recreation area. The answer from the miller for this plan was very much like: Hell no! Over my dead body! - These might be the last pictures from this water mill, if the scavenger officials get through their plans to destroy again an old building and area...

- The old bridge, that would be blown away and a new and modern bridge would be built. The dam is located in the upper left part of the picture. The miller in that newspaper article said, that the dam still produces electricity to him and he needs it. - Like the city officials care about that, or yes they do. They will have another customer for the electricity company, after that dam is gone. |
