- The landscape in Vuosaari is changing dramatically. First of all, the new harbor has already changed the landscape in and around nice Viapori areas like the Area #6, that soon will be without a doubt, almost inaccessible without too many difficulties. The work for a road connection to the harbor has already started now and I saw the zoning plans and the new road will be going very close to the Area #5 in Mustavuori. So another remote location gone. Few years from now, when walking in Mustavuori, you will hear only the noise coming from the freeway and not the silent echoes from the past. Sad I think... - Another thing is this Aurinkolahti area, where these pictures are taken. It's not that far from the Area #3 in Skatanniemi. I really don't know do I want to see the day, when there's apartments in Skatanniemi. Hopefully I'm dead before that happens... - So what's the deal whit this Aurinkolahti area I hear you asking? Let's put the answer into a short form: Amusement for the rich... - That's what's going on here. The apartments in the shoreline are very valuable and this new construction effort will increase the land value even more. The city, even when it's nearly broke, without a money to even move the snow out from the streets during the winter, decided to build a channel from Aurinkolahti to inland. Can it be anymore crazier than this? If you're broke, you decide to spend even more money... - The area don't contain that many buildings, that would have historical value. The huts of Vuosaari Fishermen are almost the only one in the area and those didn't contain too much to see. Still the surrounding landscape is, or actually was beautiful. Now it resembles more like a western front trenches in the Great War. Yes of course the new canal will look nice and all, but I would have rather walked in the beautiful nature that was here, than along some damn canal, build with the last few euros that the city had...

- "Beach. Obey absolute tidiness. Dogs and another animals are not allowed in the area. Exercise Office of Helsinki City" - Well, I hope you can at least swim in the canal? Or perhaps that's not allowed, like many things in urban landscape...
