- THE TRACK ADMINISTRATION WOULD AGAIN BE PREPARED TO DEMOLISH THE RAILWAY STATION OF PUKINMÄKI
|
|
- The demolition of the railway station was
discussed already four years ago, but then the Track Administration
abandoned the idea, so that a new use for the building could be found. - There is no plans to build anything to the
area where the railway station now is, but the tracks that are situated
close to the building, are a problem for the possible new use of the
building. The abandoned building, has invited for example graffiti
makers and other vandals, says the inspector from the Track
Administration. - The Helsinki City Planning Office, does
propose that the building should remain where it’s now and also the
Southern Finland Environment Office and the Pukinmäki Association have
appealed for the building to be preserved. THE MANOR GOT IT’S OWN FLAG-STOP -
The Flag-Stop of Pukinmäki was opened in the year 1886, to the
estates of Pukinmäki Manor. For the passengers, a wooden platform was
build first. -
The first station building was opened in the 1910’s, but it
became too small quite soon. -
The current station building was planned by a architect Thure
Hellström and it was opened during the New Year's Day of 1934. - Very similar station buildings were also located in the Malmi, Tapanila and Puistola stations, but only the Pukinmäki railway station building remains and the other ones have been demolished years ago. |
NOTE: I've gone by the building many times and have considered of taking few pictures from the exterior, as the small wooden building is currently tightly boarded and there's no way in. Also, if they start the demolition, it will be over in one day, as this building really isn't that huge and it's made out of wood...so the actual demolition job will be very quick.
