WHO’S TWISTING THE FACTS?

- Berlin, 26th of October. Those shameful events that have happened in the Canadian POW camps, where the prisoners were chained by force, which included rubber sticks, water, tear gas and finally firing fusillade from rifles, have recently gained an epilogue, which shows the bad conscience of the Canadian officials in it’s whole form. The information that has been sent from the Reuter office in Washington, indicates that the Canadian government has protested against a US magazine that published an article about these events.  The Canadian embassy is claiming that the US magazine is “twisting the facts and are giving propaganda material to the enemy”. Interesting enough, the Canadian embassy isn’t denying the incidents itself, but are disapproving that these events were made public. The story that the US magazine published, isn’t exaggerated at all, when comparing the statement that the Canadian Defence Minister Ralston gave, because this minister has given the same kind of account of the incident to the Canadian parliament, that the magazine published. The Reuter office has published this statement also to the fullest detail. So the information that Reuter office in Ottawa has sent, cancels the news that the Reuter office in Washington published, or then the Canadian Defence Minister proves that the Canadian embassy in Washington is lying.

- The information that the US Foreign Affair Undersecretary Of State Hull, refuses to tell his opinion about the protest from the Canadians, is also very interesting. The fact that he’s keeping his mouth shut, can lead to the assumption that the White House isn’t thinking that this issue is very important. In other words, they don’t know what to say about the abuse that the Canadians are practising and they cannot think what to say about the fact that this information is now public.

- Also the president Roosevelt has gotten himself in the middle of this conversation about the treatment of POW’s. He has the nerve to claim, that USA is strictly following the Geneva convention, which by the way, he says to be only a theoretical base. At the same time he’s claiming, that the tying of the German POW’s during the Dieppe invasion that the English tried, wasn’t in any conflict against the Geneva convention. Because it was only a security measure during the POW transportation. This kind of statement proves, that Roosevelt doesn’t know at all what the Geneva convention keeps inside. Because first of all, the Geneva convention doesn’t separate the POW’s held in a prison camp and POW’s that are transported and secondly, it says that the POW’s must be treated humanely. The Geneva convention that was renewed in 1929, says unambiguously, that the POW’s must be protected against from any abuse, violence and exploitation and that they have the right to demand that their person shall be held in honour and in respect and that all of their personal papers and medals shall be in their possession and that they cannot be forced to give information about the force movements etc. So if the Americans and English are this way trying to adapt the tight security prisons, like it’s known from the American gangster hunts, to the POW’s, they are without a doubt and most clearly violating against the Geneva convention, against the specific phrase and against it’s spirit.

- These incidents are no accidents and do not present some private acts from the English chiefs, this is clearly proven in the huge document material that was lately published in the German press. This material is based on the articles and pictures that the American “Liberty” and “Sea” magazines have published. One cannot also forget, that the USA committed itself into crimes even before it entered into the war, by treating the German sea officers that had escaped from Canada in a manner that the international justice in it’s history do not know.

- No words are needed, when speaking about the justification of the German retaliation. It’s as justified as the recent warning from the Japanese government, to punish severely those American and English pilots, that are found guilty of committing horrifying violence against the civilian population.
