ANCIENT CITY RUINS DISCOVERED IN PERU

 

- Group of American and Peruvian archeologists have discovered an ancient city ruins, deep inside the rain forest in the north-east part of Peru.

- According to the archeologists the ruins are over 1 300 year old, states the newspaper El Comericio which is published in Lima. The Chachapoya-culture which is older than the Inka-culture has lived in the stone city which is located in the altitude of 2 800 meters. It is believed that Inka's conquered this area later. The huge city most likely has been a residence for a 10 000 people. The city which contains five different fortifications, expands to over some 100 square kilometers. There's market squares in the city and also mausoleums which contains a well preserved mummies. 

- The fortifications contains additionally channels which have once delivered water to different parts of the city and also offensive towers. Some parts of the city is protected with walls as high as 10 meters. According to the written statements by the Conquistadors, the Chachapoyas were a white skinned warrior tribe, who were famous in the area of their length

- The city that was discovered now, has remained hidden because it's located high in the mountains, in the middle of a very rugged terrain rain forest, which is hard to travel.
