- RENOVATION PLAN FOR THE LÄNSIMÄKI FORTIFICATION AREA
- The Vantaa city officials have agreed on a plan to renovate the area of Myllymäki, that's part of the Länsimäki. According to the plan, the paths there will be improved by laying a pit ash layer to the existing paths. Also ideas about the possible duckboards, gates and a fences has been suggested. The erosion damages that the fortification has suffered will be also repaired and the fire position near Tykkikuja, will be renovated so that it will be a presentation area, with some part of the area containing lights. The history of the landscape and nature in Myllymäki will be presented to the visitors by a notice-boards. - The renovation work is planned to start in the next summer and it will be continued every summer, until in 2008, the work should be finished. The total cost for this renovation work is planned to be somewhere around 200 000 euros. |
NOTE: What else is there to be said about this than a great plan! It's just that you should teach people first to respect history, because no matter how fancy the area will look like, the youth is going to tear the place to pieces within one weekend...sorry, I'm just a very sceptical that anything would survive in a big city.
