- I found this place through the Urban Exploration news, those small local newspapers, that seem to advertise constantly abandoned places and soon to be demolished houses. That's why the name Urban Exploration news. The article stated that it will be demolished soon, due to a mould problems in the building. - When looking the place from outside, it was clear that I'm certainly not the only one who was interested of this place. Although, I doubt that it was other Urban explorers who had thrown chairs and tables to the yard and then smashed them to pieces. At first when looking the building it seemed that there is no way into the building itself, but while looking all the junk that was lying in the yard, I came to the conclusion, that if there is chairs on the yard, they must have come from the building and so there must be some hole where to get in. After a short investigation around the building, I found my way into the building itself. - The interiors were also vandalized, graffiti's telling a story, how some people just seem to miss their kindergarten days, when you could draw the whole day, although probably not to the walls even then? The best way to describe the interior is by thinking a submarine, because that was the feeling I got from this building. A long long corridor going in the middle of the building, reaching to the other end. So long actually that I couldn't see the other end even with my flashlight. Then there is doors, on both sides of the corridor, leading to a kitchen, bathrooms, storage rooms and other rooms, used by the children. - It certainly didn't feel nice, not to be able to see the other end and walking through a corridor, not knowing if there is somebody waiting for you in some room. After getting in, I actually spend a few minutes listening the silent building, to hear if there was anybody else there. But there was no sound coming from the building, only the silent walls echoing memories from the past and the present day sounds coming from the outside. - Even when that small article told that the building would be demolished soon, it took four months before the actual demolition job started and so, these are the last pictures from this place, as it was torn down during December 2003, burying that teddy bear under the rubble...

- In the playground. It seems that there has been some older children playing here now? The area of Myllypuro isn't actually that pleasant neighborhood and the chance of running into some junkie or a wino inside of the building, was a real one, increased even more by the nearby mall... |
