- Too bad, that the exploration attempt here, was only partly succesful, mostly because of my wrong judgement. The first mistake, was to leave this place to be checked during the last day. Looking this place from the distance for a week, I should have understood, that it's not going to be an exploration performed in few hours. Also the fact, the we didn't scout this earlier, made it actually impossible to explore the interiors. The thing is, that when we approached the place during our last day in Krakow, there were men working near the building and as there was no way of entering the building without the men seeing us and certainly no way of exploring the place, without whole Krakow seeing us, I decided to go and talk with the men, hoping to learn something about the building and perhaps even getting a permission to enter the place. It turned out to be a quite interesting conversation... - First of all, neither of the three men spoke English almost at all. Also, the first man that I approached and said hello, looked us like we were coming from Mars and run away to the barracks. After a while an older man appeared and I was quite hopeful, that he would speak English. Wrong judgement again, as the conversation that took place, was held mostly in Polish, Russian and German, with only few English words here and there. - The man, an ice hockey referee who actually had been in Helsinki, Tampere and Turku, during some of the ice hockey tournaments there, had really no objections of us entering the place and only said: "Polizei Nein". Ok, so that's nothing new, but when he actually noticed that we were crazy enough, to enter the place despite of that, he started to tell more about the building. It turns out, that this tower, is partly build hotel. If I understood him correctly, the construction was ceased some ten to fifteen years ago. Most likely the construction was started during the last stages of communist rule and when that government type fell, the money ran out also and the hotel was never finished. - So it's only partly build and has stood here for the past ten years, at least. The gestures that the man made about instability in the structures were very clear and I had already previously observed, that the whole tower seems to be tilting towards...some direction... Also from few floors, there's pieces missing and to us, the floors looked to be bend, strangely from the middle. And that's not all... Of course we introduced ourselves and the man introduced himself. After some hand shakes, he said the English word baby and I thought, that he's asking if my fiancé is pregnant? After the word baby, he drew a circle to the ground and pointed the building and said again baby while rushing his hand towards the circle on the ground. My only interpretation from this is, that there's some holes in the building, most likely the elevator shafts that go through the building. Falling down into one of those, is a bit like coming out from the womb...except that this time you die... - So we should have scouted the place on our first day in Krakow and most likely judging from the size of the place, there would have not been time to explore anything else, than this place safely. Trying to explore the place in few hours while in a hurry, most likely would have resulted the second experience of coming out from the womb...

- I guess that the local youth also understands something about the dangers of this place, as for the size of this, there was really small amount of graffiti. Normally, concrete monsters like this, are full of graffiti's and I would have assumed that this is so full of graffiti, that it shines in different rainbow colors. That was not the case, even when it's not guarded in anyway. Although, whole Krakow can see you while you are up there... |

- It would have been interesting to see the interiors, even when there's most likely not much of small details around, after all, it's a construction site. But I think that exploring this place, would have required some additional safety equipment, than just common sense. |
