- I remember this place, back then fifteen to twenty years ago, being full of live, with the grain silos standing beside the granary building itself. We used to go and buy candy from the nearby store and were forbidden to go to the granary yard, even when it already back then, looked very inviting. Of course this was still the time, when "Keep Out" signs was mostly enough to restrain the enthusiasm to see something, that most people don't see. Although, this place now, didn't contain any Keep Out signs and the interiors were virtually like twenty years ago, with no graffiti's and almost no signs of other vandalism, despite the close proximity of the school. - The grain silos have been demolished probably years ago and only the foundations of those silos remain. Most likely the silos were demolished because of the school and families living nearby. You don't want your kid falling into a dusty silo, now do you? - Respirator in this place was an absolute necessary, as the place still contains large amount of grain, that has been left under the mercy of weather. Of course everybody knows, what kind effects mouldy grain can cause to you? - For some reason, also parts of the building has been torn down. Most likely the huge hole that now dominates the facade, has contained the loading platform, but I cannot figure out how come they had to demolish that too? Other than that, the building is quite well sealed, with only a few entry points and none of them are shown in the pictures. Yes, that one picture with the chair on it, does show a hole in the wall, but go ahead and jump into the hole...you end in the middle of mouldy grain...nice isn't it? - The atmosphere inside the building is very captivating, as the light penetrates the building through small holes in the wooden structure and creates a fascinating play of light and dust. Also the wooden buildings usually have a strong scent of their own, which mix with the gentle scent of grain. Absolutely fascinating and reminds me of those old Finnish movies...countryside, there's just not any better exploration targets than old farm buildings, barns and grain silos, as that's really something that's typical for this country.

- Talking about the amazing light inside the building. When I showed to people, few shots taken inside of the building, their comment was: "How did you arrange the lighting there?" I didn't, the sun and the building itself arranged it for me. |
