- This area of the Silent Wall, shows pictures from my collection of postcards, photos and documents from Germany and Austria between the years (1930) to 1945. They are here for the pure reason of sharing these with other history enthusiast. The year 1930 is only a suggestive year, because it came quite soon clear to me, that it's a very time consuming effort to try to place especially those scenery & building pictures between those fifteen years. 

- If there's no stamps on the postcard or no dates in the picture, the actual task in nearly impossible. So I will be adding some pictures, that I know for sure, that they are not made, photographed or painted between 1930 and 1945. The years under each sections, will give you some idea, as to what to expect from the pictures shown in that specific section.

- As I don't speak fluent German, some of the translations I have made, probably are a bit off. Also the military ranks or other historical information, might not be entirely correct, due to the fact that German military rank system, isn't a very comparable for example to the Finnish military ranks. Also other mistakes are mainly due to the bad German skill I have. You're free to correct my mistakes, by sending me an email. For a comparison on those military ranks, I've used mainly the US military ranks and they are shown in closures, after the German rank.

- I've also left some of the text, especially on those scenery and building pictures, to the original German one, as I don't see the point of trying to translate them. It's better to have the original German text in place, rather than have a poor English version presented. And in any case, many of the location names, cannot be translated properly. 

- Also pictures from Austria are included in the Scenery & Buildings section, as are some pictures from the areas that were occupied by the German army during the Second World War and that have some meaning to the German history in generally speaking.

- As the Scenery & Building pictures section is constantly growing, it's starting to be a hard job of finding some specific location from the thumbnail galleries. Keeping that in my mind, there's now a Index of all the locations that are shown in the Scenery & Buildings section. It however doesn't contain locations, that cannot be identified, so you might still like to browse through the galleries.
