- A BOY FELL DOWN SIX METERS AT A DEMOLITION SITE IN HERNESAARI

- A boy fell down six meters during Tuesday, at the demolition site in Hernesaari. Five boys managed to get into the demolition site after six o'clock, using the gate, that was left open. Their intention was to play paintball in the area of the old waste water treatment plant. Using the door, that was twisted open earlier, the boys managed to even get into the treatment plant, where the basins are located. In the middle of the old basins, goes bridges, that the boys also used. However, one of the bridges contained a hole and one of the boys fell through from the bridge and into the basin. Underneath of the hole, the basin is a bit deeper and there was some water on the bottom. The lucky boy survived the six meter drop with just scratches and bruises. The police thanked the way the rest of the tresspassers acted, after one of them was injured. The boys had called help immediately. One of the boys went to guide the fire brigade and a second one remained with the injured boy.

NOTE: This is an interesting article for a several reasons. First of all, I knew that they are going to demolish the waste water plant sometime during the spring or summer. I received several tips from the place, but the actual demolition job seemed to drag on and on and nothing didn't happen in the spring. The second last time when I checked this place, was early June and the demolition job hadn't started at that time. The last time was in the end of the June, however, before the Mid-Summer festival. At that time, there was nothing left from the place, no doors, no basins, nothing, except few walls still standing. Then, to my surprise, this article appears over a week after since I've scouted the place and concluded, that I was too late and the demolition job is nearly finished.

- So, how is that possible? My wild (perhaps not so) guess is, that the demolition work started after my second last scouting trip and most likely, without that accident, it still would drag on (16.8.2004), as that's the custom with city jobs, in this part of the world. However, that accident changed the situation and the demolition job was finished with a speed, that I've never witnessed before. Hell, it takes months to demolish a small kindergarten and this place was a quite huge...

- After the demolition job was completely finished, the press published that article. So it was published weeks after the incident, so that no one else would go into the place. That's my only explanation, as during my last scouting trip, there wasn't much around, certainly no door or basin and this article was published over a week after that.

- Your explanation?
