EARLY WINTER OF 2002

- This probably was the last place that I'm going to photograph before the next spring. Even though it wasn't that cold during this day I was here, I was shivering all the time. And besides, like I have said earlier, it's dangerous to be around the trenches when the cliffs are covered with ice. I could have hurt myself pretty badly. Thank God nothing happened, but either I have to wait for the spring before starting to photograph Viapori again, or then I'll have to start looking for some indoor places to take pictures.

- This part of the fortification was quite dull actually. Only trenches and nothing more. And like in the other parts of the Viapori, the bunker roofs has been blown to pieces. So no indoor pictures from here. 

- This area is located right in the middle of a appartement houses. While walking here, you could see what the families were having for dinner. The local resident union is trying to keep these trenches in a good shape. I didn't see much evidence to support this. Also the Local youth seems to be having an biology classes here...

- There was snow on the ground already and that kept me from seeing any small details that possibly could have been around. Well some details I did find, but you can't get a really clear picture of some places, because of the snow.

- Oh, there is one good thing that the snow and cold made possible. No insects around...

SUMMER OF 2004

- A year and a half has passed since I visited this place. In the above text, I complain that this place was dull, but I just love to be corrected...even when it's just me noticing my mistakes.

- This place is far from dull, but the winter time just resulted a quick exploration and I didn't explore this place thoroughly. So what I missed was a structure that is in a very good condition, in a sense that it still has it's roof intact and iron reinforcements can be seen in the ceiling. So again another mistake corrected, as my second complain in the above text was that no indoor shots could be taken here.

- The newest pictures can be found from page four. Also the location has been changed a bit. Before it was Mellunmäki in Helsinki, but now I changed it to Länsimäki. Yes the place is near the Mellunmäki subway station, but officially this place is known as the Fortification Area of Länsimäki. Just a small, but an important detail...

- I actually enjoy looking graffiti's, especially bad ones. You can stare these for ever and wonder that what it's suppose to present? And every people see a different thing in these. Just like those ink blots that your shrink is showing to you every week.
