Base III: Position 4 - 6 & Cave 3, Picture 1- In the middle of a dense residential area, lies perhaps one of the most interesting places in Viapori, at least when it comes to the interiors of the bunkers and shelter rooms. I've seen many times the rusted and corroded steel doors, that have been locked since the thirties. Not even one of them have been open or at least not so much, that I could have crawled through the narrow passage.

Here however, much to my surprise, the steel doors were missing completely and I do not think that those were missing due to some vandals. The doors just were not installed ever. Generally speaking, the interiors in nearly all of the bunkers, have survived well enough from modern people. There's some graffiti's here and there, near the entry point, but after that the interiors resemble the past, if you exclude the damage done by nature and weather.

- One needs a bit of a luck to find these corridors, because most of the entrances are quite well hidden behind bushes and rubble stones. Of course there are maps, but none of them are that accurate that you could just "stop by" on your way to shopping etc. Only the entrance to the biggest bunker is easy to locate, if you happen to walk to the right place. I almost turned away before the entrance, as it seemed, that the trench line had ceased to exists, the closer I got to the bunker.

- The largest bunker itself, just makes an U-letter inside the rock and the there's another exit. I'm quite sure, that my jaw dropped to the bunker floor when I entered inside of it. The original, quite strange construction is still visible and hasn't been damaged nearly at all. Going through the doorway, I traveled nearly a hundred years back in time. It was a strange feeling to illuminate the walls and the small ammunition storage depressions with my flashlight and think about the people who build the whole place.

- What you see in front of you is another example from history and from human stupidity. The machine gun position is the example from history and I guess I should have tried to take a picture of the person who has been filling out the machine gun position will all kinds of garbage, to have the example of stupidity represented well enough. The thing is, that there's a fancy house build nearly on top of this position and the yard ends just before the machine gun position and of course it's quite handy to pour all the garbage to the trenches and another constructions, like the machine gun position in the picture...
