The Bar Of Nuppulinna, Picture 1- This place is a proof, that if some place looks interesting, go and check it closely. I have driven by this place probably more than a hundred times and I have always thought, that the doors are locked, windows are undamaged and so there is no way in, so I haven't even bothered to inspect the building more closely. This time however something got me to stop and check the building more closely and that really paid off...

- The bar and the small shop that was located here, saw it's golden moments in the eighties, when this place still had a railway station and a railway company's greenhouse on the other side of the track . The bar was blooming and the prospects for the community looked good. However times change and the railway station was shutdown, although this place still has a flag-stop, but the actual railway station building was shutdown. The last nail for the coffin was probably the closing of the greenhouse, on the opposite side of the tracks.

- Now the only customers and residents of this building, are the local cats that greeted me when I entered this building. I have no idea what has happened to the real owners of this building. The place looks like it has been abandoned really quickly, as there is all kind of stuff that still are in a decent condition. Some of the items probably have been in working condition, before some vandals have destroyed them.

- Perhaps the people who owned the bar and the shop were old and died. After that the city emptied this place quickly and left all kind of useful stuff behind. I don't know, but the building itself is quite large, with the actual bar and shop being there of course, but there is apartment also in the building, with it's own sauna, kitchen and a boiler room. This building also keeps inside numerous bathrooms. I have never seen in any building, so many bathrooms.

- Received an email in November 2005, from a person, living in Nuppulinna:

"The building is used today and it has been renovated as a residential apartment for two families. The renovation is still continuing. The sign: "Nuppulinnan Baari" (Bar of Nuppulinna) was taken down from the roof and stored, with the permission of the new owners. It was one of the properties during the Moped happening of 2005 (Suomen Pappamopojen 2005 Mopolla Mehtälle Tapahtuma). The lights in the sign were fixed and were in working condition. The couple who owned the place are most likely still living and they also had a second bar in Jamppa Järvenpää, named as Koboltti. The total amount of loan they had taken was huge. In the 90's, the place was lively but then it started to fade away. The Moped & Motor club of Nuppulinna tried to save the bar, but it was something which no one was able to really do. The last night at the bar was really legendary, even when the bar hadn't been officially open for years. The store either didn't have anyone working there officially, even when both the bar and shop were always open"

- This is what is left from the shop. The cooling counter still standing there. The engine had been taken off from the counter and it was lying close by. These kind of the counters are not cheap and there were few more lying on the backyard.

- One the numerous bathrooms. This building probably had more than seven bathrooms. Some of them side by side. Strange I think, as this place probably was inhabited by a normal family, with perhaps five or six people?
